GIVING BACK

The ELM Group believes in giving back to community through board/volunteer participation, pro bono assistance for not-for-profits, small business organizations, and local university students.

Leadership Service

  • Evansville Christian Life Center
Ed Lahue, President of The ELM Group, serves on the Board of Directors of the Evansville Christian Life Center, which is an inner city ministry which reaches out through its Life, Women, and Recovery Ministries. These ministries feed, clothe, and minister to those in need, restoring people through Christ. Ed also chairs both the Strategic Planning Committee and the Marketing Committee.

  • Rotary Club of Evansville
Ed is an active member of the Rotary Club of Evansville, including past service as a member of the Marketing/PR Committee and his involvement with the Strategic Planning Committee.

  • Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer
Ed was chairperson of the Long-Range Planning Committee at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, Evansville (July 1999 to December 2001). He helped lead the congregation through an extensive planning process, including researching needs, developing a vision, and identifying specific action plans.

  • Fortress of Fun Playground
Ed served on the Public Relations Committee for the Fortress of Fun Playground. The committee generated awareness of this community project to build an $80,000 playground and participated in construction.

  • Business Week
Ed serves on Business Week's Market Advisory Board, which is involved with surveying key business leaders and executives regarding various issues in the business community.

Pro Bono Consulting

  • Evansville Christian Life Center
The Situation: Evansville Christian Life Center is an inner-city ministry that feeds, clothes, and ministers to those in need; however, given its nine ministries, ECLC lacked a clear direction with specific goals for the future.

The Project Solution: The ELM Group conducted a strategy assessment and facilitated the staff in conducting an extensive analysis of the various non-profits in the region. The ELM Group facilitated a process with ECLC's volunteer board of directors to identify the ministry's vision and key goals. In addition, The ELM Group conducted market research to better understand the ECLC donor base and how best to market to them.

Results: Strategic plan for the future with specific goals to drive the organization as well as how ECLC markets to donors and volunteers. In addition, a formal strategic marketing plan was developed outlining the ministry's positioning and key marketing strategies and tactics. Donor and volunteer participation has increased significantly.

  • Small Business Development Center
Ed Lahue, President of The ELM Group, has supported the Evansville Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Development Center since 1998. This includes volunteer consulting with small businesses in developing their business/marketing plans, which include target positioning, key marketing strategies, and pricing.
  • Ed has also taught various seminars to start-up new businesses in strategy, business planning, and strategic marketing.

Ed was awarded the Small Business Development Center Volunteer Award by the Evansville Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Development Center in 2003. The award was given in recognition of his contributions in educating new and existing small business owners.
